Democratic commissioners joined Republicans by voting Tuesday in favor of honoring President-elect Donald Trump with his own avenue in Miami-Dade County.
In a 9-1 vote including support from four Democrats, the Miami-Dade County Commission approved the city of Hialeah’s move to co-designate Palm Avenue as “President Donald J. Trump Avenue,” according to the Miami Herald.
The vote allows Hialeah to hang “President Donald J. Trump Avenue” signs on infrastructure owned by Miami-Dade County.
Democrats could have blocked the officiation of President Donald J. Trump Avenue, as they hold seven of the commission’s 13 seats. Only one commissioner, Haitian American Marleine Bastien, cast her ballot against the tribute, the outlet reported.
Bastion did not elaborate on her opposition, offering a terse, “I am voting ‘no.'”
“President Donald J. Trump Avenue is official in Miami-Dade County!” Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera wrote on Twitter. “Today, we ratified the City of Hialeah’s initiative to honor President Trump’s legacy of championing freedom and opportunity by co-designating Palm Avenue — a vital artery in our community — as ‘President Donald J. Trump Avenue.'”

Cabrera, the item’s sponsor, was among five Republicans supporting the pro-Trump move. He was joined by Chair Anthony Rodriguez, Juan Carlos Bermudez, Raquel Regalado and Roberto Rodriguez, according to the outlet.
