An Ohio woman reportedly pleaded guilty Monday to animal cruelty charges for stomping on and eating a cat.
Allexis T. Ferrell, 27, initially pleaded not guilty on a charge of cruelty to companion animals in August, but changed her plea Monday, according to WKBN First News. A judge sentenced her to 12 months in prison for the incident, which occurred in a Canton housing complex, according to the same report. Probation violations related to prior charges reportedly increased her sentence to 30 months total.

The criminal complaint reviewed by Fox 8 News claims the Ohio woman killed the cat “by stomping its head then eating” it.
Bodycam footage from the night of Ferrell’s arrest shows the Canton resident handcuffed in front of police vehicles as officers surrounded her, according to Fox 8. “Did you eat that cat? Did you eat it?” the officer asked Ferrell.

The court ordered an evaluation of Ferrell’s mental state and competency to stand trial, according to WKBN First News.
Ferrell was sentenced to three years on probation in April 2023 for a felony charge of endangering children, according to the outlet. She was sentenced to 12 months for the animal cruelty charges and her probation violation added an additional 18 months.
Ferrell also faces an additional six months in prison after being resentenced on charges of theft and credit card misuse, the outlet reported. She will serve the half-year sentence concurrently.
