Judge Orders Trey Songz To Cough Up $11 Million To Battered Police Officer: REPORT

A Las Vegas judge ordered R&B singer Trey Songz to pay a Maryland Capitol police officer $11 million in damages after an alleged altercation that unfolded in November 2021, TMZ reported.

Officer Tyrelle Dunn said he was injured while attempting to rescue his wife from Songz’ hotel room in 2021. Songz was in Las Vegas to celebrate his 37th birthday at the time and had allegedly brought a group of women to his room at The Cosmopolitan, according to TMZ.

Dunn filed a lawsuit alleging that his wife was inside the room and had screamed for help, saying she was being held against her will. He claimed he attempted to intervene but that Songz and his security personnel attacked him, according to TMZ. Dunn claimed to have suffered extensive injuries during the altercation.

Songz faced battery charges in connection with the alleged incident, but the famous singer was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing in April 2022, according to TMZ.

Dunn proceeded to sue Songz after he was cleared in criminal court. The police officer claimed he suffered serious injuries that included fractured eye sockets and scarring that caused him to miss work, according to TMZ.

The newly filed legal documents said Songz did not respond to the lawsuit, eventually leading to the default judgment being entered against him. The judge awarded Dunn $11 million to cover previous medical expenses that he incurred as a result of the alleged altercation, as well as pain and suffering and punitive damages, according to TMZ. The famous singer has not issued public comment about this matter.
