Marc Guehi did nothing wrong.
The captain of Crystal Palace wrote “I love Jesus” on his LGBTQ rainbow armband that he was forced to wear by the English Premier League (EPL), and he’s now found out his fate as he was potentially facing punishment. Guehi showed off his love for our Lord and Savior during Palace’s recent match against Newcastle United, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The EPL requires team captains to wear the LGBTQ armbands. However, for writing “I love Jesus” on it, he was instantly flagged by the Football Association for violating their rules when it comes to religious displays.
ESPN has learned that Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guéhi could face an English Football Association (FA) charge after writing “I love Jesus” on his rainbow-coloured captain’s armband for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle United. pic.twitter.com/OQhDpK8P7Y

With that being said, the FA has made the decision to let Guehi slide, instead issuing a warning to him that it’s against the rules to display “political, religious or personal slogans, statements or images” on gear.
Lasting until Dec. 5, the Premier League’s “Rainbow Laces” is meant to show support towards LGBTQ inclusion, even though they can literally do anything that everybody else can, but whatever. The EPL cooperates with the gay charity Stonewall for this campaign.
🚨🚨| JUST IN: FA will NOT charge Marc Guehi for having message “I love Jesus” on his rainbow armband but will remind him that religious messages are prohibited.
